Nourish: An Ayurveda & Meditation Retreat in Northern California

Friday Oct. 18 - Monday Oct. 21, 2019

Join us for this potent recharge in the secluded wilderness of Northern California. Surrounded by redwood forests and rivers, this is a place to deeply nourish yourself while practicing meditation and learning the teachings of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is about the true balance that comes from living in harmony with ourselves and nature. We’ll breathe fresh air, enjoy beautiful farm-to-table, Ayurvedically-aligned food, and soak up the Prana of the redwood forests and rivers surrounding us. We’ve designed our days to follow the rhythms of the sun, moon, and nature that the body so craves. 

Mindfulness meditation is a practice of clear seeing and learning to live with more presence and wakefulness in daily life. During morning meditation sessions with Celeste, we’ll practice sitting and walking meditation together, nourished by silence and stillness. There will be Dharma talks with teachings from the Insight meditation tradition to settle the mind and open the heart. After lunch, take time to rest, recharge, or spend time in the garden or walking in the woods. During the afternoon sessions with Julie, you’ll learn practical Ayurvedic tools you can take home for balanced living. 

Men, women, and all experience levels welcome. This retreat is designed to be accessible and welcoming to all.

The Teachers

Julie Bernier

Julie Bernier teaches women and men the art of self-care so that they feel their healthiest and happiest in their own unique bodies. This holistic approach to individualized wellness is rooted in the ancient Indian knowledge of Ayurveda: a complete medical science and way of life which explains that our wellbeing blossoms when we align ourselves with nature. Julie is a registered Ayurvedic practitioner with the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA), a Certified Massage Therapist, and an Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist. Celeste Young

Celeste Young has been practicing meditation for over 17 years. She offers mindfulness meditation and Dharma classes and retreats both locally and internationally. Since 2012, Celeste has taught thousands of students the essentials of mindfulness meditation, intermediate secular mindfulness, and Buddhist teachings at InsightLA where she is a senior teacher, offering several classes a week to the community. She also works with various nonprofit organizations and companies bringing mindfulness to the workplace in unique and innovative ways. Celeste received formal teaching authorization in the Theravada Buddhist tradition from Trudy Goodman and Jack Kornfield. PRICING & ROOM OPTIONS

Early bird ends August 17. See below for room availability. If you'd like to share a room with your partner or friend, please specify your requested roommate/s in the "Requested Roommate" field on the registration form and have everyone in your group register with the same lodging selection. Solo travelers are welcome; if you’d like a shared room, we’ll assign you roommates of the same gender. Men and women over the age of 18 are welcome on this retreat. For booking questions, email info@the-land.us.

Prices include:

  • Pre-journey preparation advice (logistics + packing list + ayurvedic travel tips)

  • 3 nights at the The Land

  • 3 meals a day: ayurvedically aligned & farm to table breakfast, lunch, and dinner

  • Classes and workshops with Julie and Celeste

Prices above do not include:

  • Transportation to The Land

Cancellation Policy: No refunds within 30 days. If you cancel before September 18, The facilitators will retain $500 of your registration fee, and the Land a $100 administration fee.

Transportation

If you’re coming from LA, you can drive or fly. 

Driving from LA: about 9 hours. Email livingwisdomretreat@gmail.com if you’d like to carpool - we’ll connect you with drivers or passengers to arrange. This of course depends on availability, but we’ll do our best!

Flying: Fly into Santa Rosa. From there, either rent a car or Uber to The Land - a 1 hour 20 minute drive (again, let us know if you’d like to arrange a carpool).

If you’re flying from LA, we suggest taking one of the morning flights. This gives you enough time to enjoy lunch in wine country on your way to The Land and settle in before the retreat starts. There are lots of mid-late afternoon options for return flights.
