Activities
Daily Activities at the Eros Monastery
Here are some of the elements that you can work into your stay.
-
Weekly Sutra Study hosted by faculty in an open, group format, dedicated to the philosophy of the “Eros Sutras,” which at its core, reminds us that love is the ultimate language and key to all things, and can manifest in many forms, from difficult experiences that help us grow, to desires that draw us forward into the unknown.
-
Kathleen Ivanoff leads practitioners in daily Tibetan meditation. The format starts with a short lecture, followed by mantra practice, and time for questions and reflection at the end.
Kathleen Ivanoff is an accomplished writer, therapist, and educator, whose work is dedicated to exploring the complexities of the human experience.

Orgasmic Meditation (OM) is a structured attention training practice conducted between two people who are following a predefined set of detailed instructions. OM has been shown by more than 8 peer-reviewed studies to:
• Expand emotional range, including decreased negative emotions and increased positive emotions
• Develop brain states of “oneness” in women and “flow” in men
• Evoke strong changes in the brain leading to compassion and emotional bonding
• Decrease symptoms of numbness in people with trauma
OM training by a certified trainer or class is only required in order participate in OM at the Eros Monastery. All OM practice is entirely optional and guests who have no interest in OM are welcome. To learn more, submit an inquiry below.

Seva is a Sanskrit term that refers to selfless service or work done without expecting anything in return. Seva is a core principle in many spiritual traditions and offers the opportunity to reconnect to our body through simple acts of service in a community setting.
Seva activities include kitchen tasks, cleaning up after meals, prepping meals, working in the 2-acre organic garden, and tending to the monastery and grounds. Seasonal seva activities include brush clearing for fire prevention, seeding, planting, and harvesting in the garden.
-
As you fill up at The Land, you can enjoy giving back to the community through service. We partner with Unconditional Freedom, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to restoring dignity to outcast populations. Activities include letter writing with prison residents taking an 8-week journey into healing, yoga and meditation; gourmet meals for those in need; and sustainable agriculture to restore optimal soil health.
-
The Land has many natural features to explore from local swimming holes to walks along the Navarro river to treks over to Hendy Woods State Park, or strolls through our starburst-shaped garden. Everywhere you turn on The Land, there is beauty.

Take advantage of experienced coaches during your Monastery stay. Our coaches are certified to instruct in the Eros Sutras-based coaching, Orgasmic Meditation and other topics.

“During my time working and studying on the land, I learned to come home. Not in the white picket fence way, but learning about my body’s own operating manual. I learned to care for my body’s physical and mental systems in the same way, regained trust with my intuition, and remembered life is not a passive experience..”
